How Blogging Draws New Clients to Your Website
As a business owner who wants to help others and contribute to your community, your goal is to also bring in a profit. But before you can ever make a sale, potential clients must first know you even exist; they have to be able to find you.
That’s where the magic of blogging comes in.
According to inbound marketing software company, HubSpot, businesses that blog attract 67 percent more leads than those that don’t. An effective business blog can place your company in front of readers who’ve never heard of it before.
But how?
Three words: Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO.
What is SEO?
SEO is the process of getting your web page to rank higher in search results when a query is made using keywords related to your topic. Publishing relevant and helpful content on your site is the first of several steps to help you move up, which leads to increased web traffic and sales.
How Does It Work?
When someone has a question related to your product or service, they’ll likely head to the search engine, Google, for an answer.
If your blog post matches the keywords used in the search, the post will show in the results. But exactly where it shows up is important.
If listed on the first page, especially near or at the top, readers are more likely to click. According to a study by online advertising agency, Chitika, 61 percent of search users click on the top three search results, 33 percent click on the first.
Blogging makes it easy for you to add fresh content and additional pages on a regular basis. The more you update your website, the greater chance you have of ranking higher and being seen.
Blogging can also help potential clients find you in other ways.
Sharing is Caring
If your content is useful (which it should be) and readers like what you have to say, they may share your links on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, and other social media networks, broadening your visibility and increasing links back to your site. Links, both internal and external, are also used in SEO to help boost search engine ranking.
Attract the Media
Journalists and bloggers mine the Net to find sources for stories. Attracting media attention through your blog can launch you before an even greater audience and further elevate you as a trusted voice in your field.
Blogging Broadens Your Reach
To reach more people, to help more people, and to bring in more money to your business, it’s important to provide ways to get found online. Blogging helps to attract new readers to your site where you can share useful information related to the products and services you provide as a way to show your expertise and ensure readers that what you offer can help solve their problems.
